Benevolence

The Benevolence ministry oversees the funds, contributions and service projects that provide physical and financial assistance to TSCC families in need and the community . The Benevolence team serves as a link between the church and L.I.F.E. (Lawrence Inter-Faith Endeavor) which provides benevolence help to the Mitchell area.

Discovering Membership

Class 101 (discovering membership at TSCC) is first base in our Field of Dreams. Class 101 is a four-hour seminar providing Biblical information on becoming a Christian, basic beliefs of TSCC, involvement opportunities and the strategy and structure of our ministry. Class 101 is an excellent forum for interested newcomers to ask questions about who we are and what we do. At the end of the seminar, participants have an opportunity to sign the TSCC membership covenant and join our church family.

Discovering Spiritual Maturity

Class 201 (discovering spiritual maturity) is second base in our Field of Dreams. Class 201 is an eight-hour seminar that teaches members how to live an ordinary day with Jesus. Class 201 offers practical teaching on how to:

  • Invite Christ to work along side you
  • Recognize and hear the Holy Spirit
  • Eliminate hurt and simplify your pace of life
  • Wake up and Sleep in Jesus name
  • Open everyday relationships to Him
  • Spend soul-replenishing time alone with God
  • Plan, commit to, and actually experience an entire day with Jesus

Spiritual Gifts Team

The Team's purpose is to help you identify your gifts and then match your gifts with Tulip Street's core ministry needs.  The Team also identifies interests within the church family and passes them on to the Passion Ministry Team.  Provide church leaders with names of members that are gifted/passionate in needed ministries.  Assist existing ministries in identifying potential ministry members (either ongoing or project based) through the SHAPE analysis.

Resource Center

The Resource Center ministry oversees the identification and purchasing of Christian books, magazines, tapes and videos to aid in the Christian growth of individuals and families. These resources are organized and distributes in the resource room which functions like a library. The resource center is located across 9th street by the Discipleship Center and is open before and after services.

Music Team

The Music-Worship Team consists of a talented and dedicated group of Christian instrumentalists, vocalists and percussionists.  Leading worship requires a "heart of worship" and is considered the single most important factor in considering and developing new members.  Members are required to seek both personal spiritual growth and commitment to our Lord.  Our goal each week is to provide an uninterrupted time of worship guided by the Spirit of God.  Through God's leading the work and creativity of the team, we together will bear the fruit of authentic worship.  The atmosphere will include a diversity of worship styles and the freedom of personal and physical expression whereby all people may experience and celebrate the presence of God.  It is in this loving environment that seekers may find him.  Instruments used are bass, six string, twelve string acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, electronic drum, djembe, and congas.

Serving Team

Serving team members are responsible for the weekly set-up of the Worship Center area, including the setting up and tearing down of folding chairs.  The team is also responsible for selecting ushers, the collection of our tithes and offerings, and serving communion.

Communion Prep

The Communion Preparation Team prepares communion each week, including the filling of communion cups and trays with the elements representing the body and blood of Jesus Christ.  Team members are responsible for cleaning the communion trays after the services.

Lights, Sounds, Video

Sound Techs are responsible for the operation and mixing of the sound during services, and for recording the audio of the service.  Video Techs are responsible for the operation and adjustment of stage lighting during services.  They are also responsible for inputting lyric sheets into computer software operated video slides, presentations and video clips prior to the service.

Deaf Ministry

Interpret what is said in sermon, song, and bible scripture. Interpreting involves the correct use of body language, facial expressions and signs. Each Sunday Morning during the 10:45am Worship Service, Donna Hounshell signs the worship service for the deaf and hearing impaired. Special seating is available in the front right section of the gym. Call Donna to learn more about this valuable ministry.

Helpmates

Helpmates are the ladies of the church who meet together and plan events.  Events are posted in the bulletin as they are planned.  Events sponsored by Helpmates are a kitchen shower to restock the kitchen, Brown Bag Night at the Spring Mill State Park, Salsa Night, College Care Packages, Funeral Dinners, Life Tree, Secret Encouragers, Secrets Out Dinner, Care & Encouragement Club, Baby Blanket Ministry, Ladies conferences and retreats.

Care & Encouragement Club

As women of the church we see the need to minister to the sick, shut-in, or others facing trials or trouble in their lives.  Our primary goal is to provide a few meals, send cards of encouragement, or words of encouragement.  We need your help and your help in keeping us informed of a hospitalization, sickness, birth of baby or other needs.

College Care Packages

Send care packages to TSCC college students.  Donations of snack food (store-bought or homemade) & adult size shoeboxes are needed.  All ladies of the church are invited to come and help with this ministry.  If you are a college student or have a son or daughter in college please contact Mary Jo Payne with student's name and address.

L.I.F.E. Food Pantry

Feed the poor of Lawrence County.  L.I.F.E. Food Pantry, located in Mitchell, is the local food bank.  Needed food item donations are listed each month in the bulletin.  Contact Wanda for a complete list of needed items or to give monetary donations.  Volunteers are needed not only to dispense food but also to shop for groceries, transfer cases of commodities from one point to another (pickup truck needed), stock shelves, and clean the pantry.  These things can be done on an "on-call" basis rather than an every month commitment.  Small groups are encouraged to conduct food drives and volunteer periodically.

ReGeneration Thrift Store

The Thrift Store, in downtown Mitchell, is open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm. The store accepts donations of good used clothing and furniture during normal store hours.  Volunteers are needed to help with daily operation and also for furniture delivery.

Communion is served to the residents of Mitchell Manor Nursing Home by volunteers each Sunday Morning at 9am. Volunteers are always needed.

Nursing Home Music

Music and visiting at Mitchell Manor Nursing Home at 7pm the third Thursday of each month. You need not sing or play an instrument. The residents are starved for attention and someone to visit with. Park at the back door and ring the buzzer. Children are welcome! Usually lasts 35-40 minutes.

Beth Moore Bible Studies

This is a 10 week in-depth Beth Moore Bible Study. During this study you will have a daily workbook assignment, a weekly video segment and classroom discussion. There is a modest cost for the workbook.

Men's Events

Organize and execute activities, events, studies, etc. for men within the church. Activities sponsored for the Men of TSCC are listen in the bulletin as events are planned. Baby Blanket Ministry

All ladies are invited to join this group as they sew baby blankets, lap robes, and comforters. You don't have to be a seamstress to help - we need ladies to cut out, pin together, sew and tie blankets or just come for fellowship. We meet on Wednesday mornings from 9-11:30am in the Resource Center across from the church. Items are donated to local Pregnancy Centers and local and foreign missionaries.

Guitar Lessons

Guitar lessons held on Wednesday evening 5-5:30pm in Donnie's office. Intermediate guitar lessons held on Wednesday evening 5:30-6:15pm in Donnie's office. Lessons will be held on nights that there is a Wednesday night service. All guitar players are welcomed and there is no charge for these classes.

Church Health Team

The Church Health Team's (CHT) task is to improve the health of the church.  The CHT will lead TSCC in strengthening the Minimum Factor (lowest score) identified in our Natural Church Development (NCD) survey.  The CHT is responsible to identify a few key issues that contribute to the church's relative weakness in the area of the Minimum Factor, to develop an Action Plan to address these issues, and to facilitate the implementation of that Action Plan.  The Action Plan will consist of two to five initiatives to be completed within the year prior to the next NCD survey.
